Bangor University Overview

Founded in 1884, Bangor University is a Welsh institution located on the coast of North Wales, approximately 450km northwest of London. It hosts over 10,000 students from 85 different countries, with Manchester International Airport about two hours away by train.

Renowned for its Ocean Science program due to its coastal location, Bangor University has also earned a strong reputation in Accounting & Finance, Sport Science, and Electronic Engineering. Bangor University Services for International Students

The International Student Welfare Office provides comprehensive support and guidance to all international students and their families, assisting with study support, financial advice, and accommodation.

The Bangor University Study Skills Centre aids students in adjusting to university life and advancing academically, offering classes on academic writing and reading, statistics, presentation skills, and project management.

Throughout the year, the university organizes trips to London, York, and other places of interest, as well as various on-campus events. Additionally, more than 20 international student ambassadors are available to assist students from their first day on campus until graduation.

Bangor University has 3,000 rooms available for students across two locations. All accommodation is self catered, and a free gym membership is available to all students who live in Bangor University accommodation. All Bangor University students are guaranteed university accommodation in their first year.

As one of the smallest cities in the UK with a population of just over 15,000 people, Bangor has a uniquely intimate feel. Sitting between the Snowdonia Mountains and the Irish Sea, the scenic location makes it ideal for sports of all kinds, including hiking, water sports and mountain biking. The raised site of the university’s iconic Main Arts Building gives the university its nickname, ‘The College on the Hill’.
